The Linhay B&B, a converted barn located in the beautiful abbey village of Washford, is an ideal base for exploring the glorious Exmoor National Park and surrounding picturesque villages such as Dunster or Porlock.

Whether it be the dramatic scenery of Exmoor, the rolling hills of the Quantocks, the seaside towns of Watchet or Minehead, the medieval village of Dunster, or even a trip along the West Somerset Railway, the Linhay B&B is a luxurious haven from which to discover the beauty of Somerset.

Double Bedroom with En-suite
Double Bedroom with En-suite

After a hearty breakfast, venture out and explore villages such as Porlock or idyllic Dunster, with its 11th Century yarn market, castle and over two hundred listed buildings or head down to the coast and one of the many seaside villages along the Somerset and Devon shoreline such as Watchet, Blue Anchor or Minehead. A little further afield are Porlock or Lynton and Lynmouth. For the more active amongst us, the Exmoor National Park offers a wide range of activities from walking and hiking to horse riding, mountain-biking and hang gliding.

Upon returning to the Linhay B&B, relax in our outdoor heated swimming pool with views over the surrounding countryside or unwind in our sauna, before sampling the culinary delights of nearby restaurants and pubs offering local Exmoor produce.

Local Events

Local events take place throughout the year and our guests are amazed at the range of attractions and activities available, with all-round favourites such as “Dunster By Candlelight” and the West Somerset Steam Railway, calling at the local towns of Watchet, Washford, Blue Anchor, Dunster and Minehead, recapturing the country railway in the days of steam. The West Somerset Railway museum is located in Washford.

On our doorstep in Washford itself, Cleeve Abbey is a 12th Century Cistercian Abbey viewed as one of the best-preserved mediaeval monastic sites in Britain, or the West Somerset Railway Museum at Washford Station, whilst for the young ones, Tropiquaria nearby never fails to enchant with its creepy crawlies, puppet shows and outdoor pirate ship and truly is a fun day out, whatever the weather.
